गाश्च सङ्कीर्तयेन्नित्यं नावमन्येत तास्तथा। अनिष्टं स्वप्नमालक्ष्य गां नरः सम्प्रकीर्तयेत् ।।
(महाभारत – अनुशासनपर्व ७८.१८)
प्रति दिन गौओंका सङ्कीर्तन करे; अर्थात् नाम ले, उनका कभी अपमान न करे। अनिष्ट स्वप्नके निवारणकी भावनासे मनुष्य गौका स्मरण – सङ्कीर्तन करे।।
भगवान् श्रीकृष्णके गोविन्द, गोपाल- इन नामोंमें गायके नामका सन्निवेश है। अतः सोनेके पूर्व सुखशयनकी भावनासे इन नामोंका सङ्कीर्त्तन, संस्मरण करे तथा दुःस्वप्नके निवारणकी भावनासे भी इन नामोंका सङ्कीर्तन तथा संस्मरण करे।
“गोविन्द, गोपाल” आदि भगवन्नामोंका सङ्कीर्तन करनेपर गौवोंका स्मरण स्वाभाविक हो जाता है तथा गोपालन और गोसंरक्षणकी भावनाका भी उदय होता है।
Essence
Engage in singing the praise and glory of cows everyday and take their name. Never disrespect them.
If someone experiences a bad dream, taking the name of cows to gives relief.
Govinda and Gopala are the names of Bhagavan Krishna. These names also include cows. Thus, on chanting these names of Bhagavan, one remembers the name of cows and the motivation to serve and protect the cows also comes therein.
Saṃskr̥t words/names in context: (1) Saṅkīrtana [Sankirtan] – Singing praise of (2) Govinda and Gopāla – The divine cowherd and Protector of cows that is, Lord Kr̥ṣṇa [Krishna].
