Essence
Just as clay vessel sustains, nurtures and enhances milk, curd etcetera, the wisdom of the brahmins is reflected in the written sentences (words written in scriptures), rituals performed by them, their faith in bhagwan and eternal values like dharma, the various penances undertaken by them and their speech. These become the bearers of earth and heaven.
Because of the ten directional guardians (such as Indra), the universe, their different realms and the divinity that is due to the sages like Sanaka and Narada who are devoted to renunciation is credited to the vedic rituals, worship and knowledge. Knowledge of things bound by time and that which is timeless is possible only through vedic literature. Therefore, the extinction of the vedas is the extinction of all. The end of the vedic rituals, worship and knowledge systems will lead to a world similar to hell and the hellish beings.
With the reverence and respect offered to virtuous women, a family lineage endowed with good character, bravery, radiance, and unerring sight is ensured. With their decline, a lineage ensuring world destruction is born.
In all respects, speech that is truthful, beneficial, pleasant, and non-agitating is expected. Even a virtuous person can fall prey to greed and become corrupted. One who is free from greed becomes a bearer of the universe and is worthy of worship, due to his generosity. One who possesses non-enmity, self-control, compassion, and is of charitable nature becomes a jewel to the society.
Thus, the preservation of the elements that bear the earth namely dharma, artha, kama, moksha, kala, govansha, vipra, veda, sati, satyavadi, nirlobha and danasheel is in the best interest of all. Similarly, the protection of the Tripathaga Ganga, the bearer of the earth, is expected, and is all-auspicious.
