This entry is part 4 of 6 in the series About The Healthy Revolution: Svasth Kranti

In this part of the series we shall look into the philosophical and spiritual aspects of the Healthy Revolution or Svasth Kranti as explained by Jagadguru Puri Shankaracharyaji.

Whether you are asktika, nastika, vaidika or avaidika, you must contemplate on what is the true object of your desire. Examine the nature of other living beings. Even if you do not have a subtle perception, you can observe your own life – what you are interested in and what you do not engage in. You can conclude that your sole desire is freedom from death.

We all wish for immortality. We seek freedom from stupidity, ignorance and being naive, and wish to become eternal consciousness. We want to be free from the three afflictions – of body, caused by divine forces, and of spiritual and psychological nature. We wish to be the embodiment of bliss.

We consider our body to be “me” and “mine”. Changing our perception to viewing it as “this” body” is a rise at a philosophical (or spiritual) level. We all wish for freedom from ignorance, sorrow and death, and seek the attainment of Sat Chit Anand or Sachhidananda Sarveshvara (The Supreme Truth). This is the universal cause of revolution as per the vedas.

The philosophical revolution is the highest level of revolution that has been given by Bhagavan to us. If we do not rise at this level, then any other type of external revolution becomes a headache for the nation. – Jagadguru Puri Shankaracharya

To uplift us at this deeper philosophical level, we must keep in mind, the following:

  • To try and live a life that is favourable to enjoyment and attaining moksha is svasth kranti. We must also enjoy all consumables with the intention to attain the goal of moksha.
  • To make efforts to utilise the eternal cycle of birth and death for one’s rise is svasth kranti.
  • Our livelihood is for life, but our life is not meant for our livelihood. It is for the attainment of the ultimate wealth – Jagadishvara. To try and take this message to people, is svasth kranti.

The object of the jiva’s (individual soul) desire is he himself. Therefore, the fulfilment of this jiva is possible only by the knowledge of the Self. On a practical level, in order to assimilate this knowledge, tolerance is necessary at a universal level.

Live and let live; neither be a fool nor befool others; neither be unhappy nor make others unhappy; be tolerant and try hard to make others tolerant; be wise and try sincerely to make others wise; be happy and make tireless efforts to make others happy.

Those whose habit is to attack this ethical code are a blot in the name of humanity. They deserve to be restrained by the strength of goodwill, proper communication and unity.
