Hindus by their traditional definition are the protectors of gauvansh (cows & bulls). Our scriptures (granthas) have detailed the divine nature and importance of gauvansh.

Indigenous gauvansh that has a dewlap and hump is indicated as holy in our vedas and shastras.

This series shall give an overview of the scared significance of cows, the reasons for the progression towards extinction of indigenous cow varieties of Bharat, the struggle for cow protection since the time of independence of India, and the efforts of Govardhan Math, Puri Peeth to protect cows. You will also learn the spiritual significance of serving cows and ways of doing so in contemporary times.
