Pujya Vishnu Ashramji Maharaj was a dandi svami who stayed at Bihar ghat, on the banks of Gangaji. About 4-5 km away, lived his student, a businessman. He was very sick and nearing the time of his death.
The businessman’s son requested Vishnu Ashramji Maharaj to bless his father in his last moments by giving him darshan. Maharajji went there.
The conversation that followed …
Son: “My father is asking for Coca Cola in his last moments. Do I give it or not? (in those days this indicated the blend of Coca Cola and alcohol).”
Vishnu Ashramji Maharaj: “Don’t give it. Put Ganga jal in his mouth.”
The son did as he was told and followed further instructions.
He went near his father’s ear and said, “Pitaji, your last moment is near, take the name ‘Ram-Ram’.”
However, the businessman died saying, “Son, that which you want me to say, is what I cannot say.”
He said this long sentence before taking his last breath but could not even mention the name ‘Ram’ in it. While, he was a good man, and died seeing his Guru, with the name of Bhagavan whispered in his ear, taking the name of Bhagavan Ram by himself, did not happen.
We have time for everything else in life, except what we are born for (remembering Bhagavan). This is the maya of Bhagavan.
