About Bhagavati Manasa Devi

Bhagavati Manasa Devi is the mind-form of Bhagavan. In the Brahma Vaivartta Purana, the greatness of the name and the form of the Devī has been described in detail. She belongs to the Nagaloka and she and her husband are ascetics and devotees of Bhagavan Viṣṇu. Bhagavati Manasa Devi is a worshipper of Bhagavan Krishna who considers her to be His devotee.

Connection with Maharajji

Bhagavati Manasa Devi is also known as Vishara Devi (the destroyer of poison) and Sati Devi.

The ancestors of Maharajaji, had darshan of Bhagavati in Assam. They were asked to take her to their village. That is how Vishara Devi was consecrated in the form of a pinda by his ancestors, and was worshipped by Maharajaji in his childhood.

During his childhood, Maharajaji was protected with the blessings of the Devī. Whoever would attempt to harm him, would get bitten by a snake. Maharajaji, in his youth, developed the ability to cure people of snake bites. Even someone dying of snake bite would get revived with his blessings. He did not desire or do any special practices to obtain these powers or siddhis. For his protection, the village deity and the ancestors began to show these miracles on their own. It was the power of none other but Vishara Devi. Maharajaji had been blessed by her siddhi.

Sati Devi revealed the secret that the destruction of the body does not destroy the jivatma. In her devotion towards her husband, she left her mortal body to immolate in the sacred fire. The world is preserved due to the existence of such devī’s.

Maharajaji considers the Bhagavati Manasa Devi as the one responsible for his rise and flourishing, and has great reverence for her. Even today, he is constantly blessed by her and can feel her strong compassion and protection in his life.

The land of Sati or Bhagavati Manasa Devi , where he grew up, is a powerful centre or siddha bhumi. The water body next to the mandir is also blessed.

Maharajaji expressed the desire for the construction of the Bhagavati Manasa Devi mandir so that all can take her blessings. The ambiance of the mandir must be beautiful, clean and divine so that it proves to be auspicious for Mithila. May it contribute to the creation of individuals and society that is secure, educated, cultured, service-oriented, healthy, prosperous and directed towards the well being of all.
