Attributes of a True Guru

1. The guru must be learned.
2. He must have knowledge of vedas and shastras, and the Supreme Truth.
3. He should be above material attachment.
4. He must hail from an authentic traditional lineage or Guru Parampara.
5. A real guru works for the welfare of all.
6. A guru should keep us strongly connected with Bhagavan and our sacred texts. He should be able to explain the exact essence of scriptures and guide us to reach the ultimate Truth.
