In the first week of May, 2023, violence broke out in Manipur. An ethnic cleansing of Hindus is progressing successfully in the state.
Jagadguru Shankaracharya Svami Nischalananda Sarasvatiji Maharaj, The Shankaracharya of Puri, Govardhan Math expressed his concern on the same.
Giving the example of Punjab, he said that people who lack foresight spread lawlessness. There was a time when Sikhs thought that they must not let Hindus live in Punjab. However, they realised with their own wisdom that Sikhs are spread all over the world and are not just limited to Punjab. Hence, in other areas, Sikhs would get killed. Similarly, we can see what is happening in Manipur. If the people there have some foresight, they must not have such plans. The community associated with violence has their people spread all over the country. Is it not? Where would they go? This is the highest degree of lack of foresight and anarchy.
